To mark the 1500th Anniversary of the birth of St Columba, Gilbert Markus, author of ‘ Conceiving a Nation: Scotland to Ad 900’ will discuss St Columba as the guarantor of the newly developed institution of Christian kingship among the peoples of Dalriada and how this authority was employed by Adomnan to underwrite his Law of the Innocents, the Irish ‘Geneva Convention’.
